Chateau Avalon's Great Dates of Fall!

The most beautiful of days are when the seasons are changing and you are enjoying the beauty of nature with the one you love! "Chateau Avalon's Great Dates of Fall" are here and ready to inspire you! Even though Fall is coming to a close, there is still plenty of time to get a few dates in!Fall Blog Image

Ride in a Hot Air Balloon - Hot air balloon rides are quite possibly one of the most beautiful, romantic and unique date ideas out there! Whether you are looking to celebrate a special occassion, celebrate a special person, or even pop the question, a hot air balloon ride is definitely something to consider. Click here for more information on balloon rides in KC!
Have a Coffee Date (Chai or Pumpkin Lattes are delicious this time of year!) - While there are many fantastic coffee shops in Kansas City, may we suggest one of our favorites? Venture into downtown and check out The Filling Station -- Kansas City's only coffee garage. With a fantastic menu, talented staff and a unique space, a visit to The Filling Station will leave you glad you tried something different.
Wander a Corn Maze - Travel just outside of Kansas City to visit the Liberty Corn Maze, the largest corn maze in the state of Missouri. Enjoy a date night with the one you love or bring the kids for some family fun!
Bundle Up For a Picnic - Pull out the picnic basket, a glass of wine and a picnic blanket. If you're looking for the perfect picnic spot, check out Loose Park or find a nice tree to cozy up to at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens!
Tour a Haunted House - If you like to get SCARED, click here for the best haunted options in Kansas City!
Go to a Pumpkin Patch - Take a day trip to Weston, MO and visit the Weston Red Barn Farm. With hayrides, a country store, sweet treats and much more, you are certain to enjoy your time! While you're in Weston, make sure to plan a visit to the downtown area -- there are lots of great little shops and restaurants to check out while you're there!
Bake Pies & Other Autumn Treats - Pick up fresh apples at the local Farmer's Market and cozy up at home and bake the day away! There's nothing more romantic than sharing the kitchen with the one you love!
Take a Walk through the Leaves - Keep it casual with a simple walk around the neighborhood or enjoy a hike on the trails at Shawnee Mission Park or other great places throughout the city!

Whatever you do to enjoy the season, make sure you always spend time with the ones you love the most! Happy Autumn!

If The Future Is Now, What Is Tomorrow?

Mobile CD PlayerIt does not seem like 2004 was that long ago.   But how things have changed.  Take a walk with me back to 2004.
Everyone listened to their music on the run with a mobile CD player.  Did anyone else's skip all the time?  In just two years we would all be wanting something called and iPod.
Film cameras were being replaced by digital ones that had an amazing 1 megapixel resolution.  Today we are disappointed with less than 12 megapixels.
A couple of cellular companies announced that they believed soon they would be able to bring video to our phones.
A few pioneers began publishing web logs.  They called them "blogs".
A small company called Google said they would change the market by giving people FREE email addresses with lots of web storage.  NOTE: That same Google high speed this year intends to revolutionize home internet with 100X speed digital fiber starting right here in old KC.
The compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) was not invented yet.
The new TV that everyone wanted was called a Plasma.  A 42" screen cost over $4,000!
Things have really changed and so must the Chateau Avalon.   When I put in those flat glass TV's in the hotel, they were the state of the art.  Other hotels were still installing TVs with rounded tubes and standard size was 27".
This week it is time again to upgrade the Chateau Avalon to stay ahead of the curve.  We are putting 100% LED TVs throughout the hotel.  They are just 1.5" thick with extraordinary picture quality.
In November we will also be converting from the current 18 stations to over 80 stations most of which offering true hi-def programing.  This increased programming will allow us to also remove the antiquated DVD players from the suites.
These LED tvs will consume just a fraction of the energy of the previous glass tube TVs with better quality and other device connectivity.
So with all the changes in the last 9 years it begs the question, what will be watch our shows on 9 years from now? Perhaps a piece of glass?  Don't laugh...
