On April, 29, 2009, The Tourism Organization of the Year for Kansas City Kansas and Wyandotte County was presented to Chateau Avalon. This Chateau on a hill is a 62-room hotel where guests can choose from among 23 unique theme accommodations, ranging from the Hemingway Room, to the Jesse James Escape, to the Mayan Rainforest, to the three-story Monte Cristo. Chateau Avalon was honored by Expedia.com for the second year in a row as Kansas City’s premier couples retreat, for its "Expedia Insiders’ Select" list. It was also selected as one of the top 10 themed hotels in the nation by Air Tran In flight Magazine. In 2008, Chateau Avalon hosted over 10,000 guests at the hotel.

In June, 2007 Expedia.com announced that Chateau Avalon successfully qualified for its new Expedia Insiders' Select list. This elite group of approximately 1% of all hotel properties offered on Expedia.com were chosen from more than 300,000 Traveler's Opinions (online reviews) combined with the expertise of Expedia's 300 local experts and hotel market managers worldwide. Chateau Avalon was acknowledged for its combination of excellent service, overall experience and value.

On November 27, 2007 it was announced that, upon completion of a full market audit and review all of the properties in the Greater Kansas City Area and the quality guest experience provided to its customers, Expedia.com upgraded the Chateau Avalon's star rating to its 3.5 classification*...an increase of 1/2 star! This updated star rating now appears on Expedia.com and Hotels.com.

Expedia Insiders' Select
In April, 2008, for the second straight year, Chateau Avalon was acknowledged by Expedia.com to be among the top 100 hotels in America and therefore placed on Expedia's Insiders' Select list. The three major criteria for this designation are excellent service, overall experience and value.
